Carrier Tape
Embossed carrier tape provides protection to integrated circuits and other devices from physical and ESD damage during shipping and storage. It is a universally accepted method of presenting devices to pick and place machines for automatic placement onto printed circuit boards. For non-IC applications, embossed carrier tape provides automation possibilities not available with other packaging methods.

Cover Tape
Cover tape is applied over carrier tape, sealing the devices in the pockets. Cover Tape adhesive can be heat-activated or pressure-sensitive. Depending on the nature of the device being packaged, an anti-static cover tape may be needed to complete ESD protection. Cover tape is available in both the heat-activated or pressure-sensitive.

Flanges
To further prevent damage to devices during shipping and storage, loaded carrier tape is typically wound onto a plastic take-up reel. Electro-Comp's flanges are available in multiple diameters and widths.
